It started with a pause

A reason to slow down
Mizna Al Sharafi has always been on the move. When she was expecting and her doctor asked her to rest, she needed something she could do from home. She remembered her cousin coming back from the States with rotary cutters and quilting tools, back when supplies like that were nearly impossible to find here.

A hobby people wanted
She started ordering supplies from the US and quilting at home. Friends and family loved her work, then asked to buy it. Home businesses were flourishing across the UAE, and in 2017 MazzQuilts was born.

From quilts to everything in between
One quilt led to another, then to madas, doshaks, baby sets, blankets and gifts. Mizna never stopped making.

A studio of her own
While expecting her youngest son, she built an in-house studio, and she has been creating there ever since.
Finished on a longarm
Mizna was one of the first in the UAE to bring in a longarm quilting machine. It lets us quilt full-size pieces with even, precise stitching across every layer, the kind of finish usually only found in specialist quilting studios abroad.
It's one of the reasons our quilts look, feel and last the way they do.
When it has to be special
Our customers come to us when they want something personal: a name stitched on a baby's first blanket, colours chosen for a new home, a gift nobody else will have.

A dream, now come true
Quilting started as Mizna's escape, a quiet place to slow down and create with her hands. For years she dreamed of sharing that feeling: a space where anyone could step away from everyday life and lose themselves in fabric, colour and stitching.
Getaway by Mazz is that dream come true. It's an escape into our world of creativity, where you can learn to sew and quilt, take a workshop, book a private appointment, or simply sit with a coffee surrounded by fabric.
